Past, Present, and Future: Part 4

A letter to my future self.
Please tell me you got life figured out by now…
…Just kidding…
…Of course you do.
Are you still going after those big ambitions?
I hope life hasn’t tried to slow you down any. Like you still got some spunk in you. Maybe even healthier now than you were 20 years ago? I can only hope. But that means I have to start putting in the work now so you can stick around for a while.
What’s the future like? Did the apocalypse happen? Or were we able to start a revolution and now things are the best they have ever been? Please tell me there is still something worth fighting for; that there is a reason to still get out of bed every day.
But seriously, how are things? I want to hear all about it. Have you found that someone that makes you genuinely happy? Still doing your art? Still writing? And how’s the memoir coming along? How’s the new apartment? Any plans to decorate yet? What about work?
And of course, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room…
How is the dialysis going? Were you able to do the peritoneal dialysis? Or are you spending your days stuck in a center? I hope it’s not the latter, because that is not my definition of quality-of-life.
I hope you have had the opportunity to fully take advantage of the life you have been given. And that you remembered to enjoy it: ate the good food, discovered some new music, read through your TBR list, spent more time outdoors, laughed at your own bad jokes, took some really good selfies, made time to wake up to the sunrise, took more trips and went on more adventures.
I don’t exactly know how things are going to turn out, but I hope life is everything you dreamed of and more. That peace was worth pursuing. That joy was worth choosing. That love was worth making. That forgiveness was worth giving. And that faith was worth holding onto.
I hope you’re proud of all of your accomplishments and achieved those big ambitions. That you became the best version of who you were meant to be.
Be proud of who you are.
Just know that, if I had the ability to sit with you, I would tell you I am proud of the person you have become. Keep going. Keep fighting the good fight.
And remember me when you look back and see where you have been.
Until the next Spark,
Kat
